The temperature drops, the vacationers and summer people head south, and Blue Hill and the surrounding areas settle in for the serene season. We await the first snowfall when the landscape is transformed into a winter wonderland.
This area is filled with people who do not like to hibernate in the winter! We cross-country ski, snowshoe, go for a sleigh ride, ice fish, play duplicate bridge, take cooking classes and eat good food, listen to poetry, shop at craft fairs, and watch plays and movies. We watch the ducks in Blue Hill Bay and look for deer and moose. Check the calendar at Penobscot Bay Press for current listings.
We celebrate New Year’s Eve in Blue Hill with free live music and entertainment in over a dozen venues—all within walking distance of the Blue Hill Inn. Sponsored by Peninsula Pans, our local steel drum band supporter, well over 1,500 revelers attend.
Year-Round Accommodations at the Blue Hill Inn
Our Cape House Suite and Studio are designed for the comfort of year-round guests. The Suite boasts a wood-burning fireplace, visible from the four-poster king-sized bed as well as from the sitting area overlooking the deck. Both have games, books and magazines, televisions, DVD players, and CD players. The fully stocked kitchens allow guests the freedom to prepare meals at their home-away-from-home. We leave snacks, both savory and sweet, as well as a varied continental breakfast prepared with the guests in mind.
As in the summer, our Cape House accommodations offer guests more privacy. Innkeeping staff are only a phone call away to assist with concierge needs. Housekeeping is arranged to suit the desires of the guests.
For guests looking for longer stays at the Cape House, special rates apply. Simply inquire.
